Artist's Comments

Material is Super Sculpey, acrylic paint and jewelry chain. The statue was solid and as I completed the major sections like the torso and head she started to crack in the oven. In response I use the growing fishers and pulled her apart, scrapped her insides to about a 1/8th of an inch thick, then super glued her back together.

Although a little risky it allowed me to proceed through the rest of the piece without anymore cracking incidents. I probably baked her 25 more times before she was done. I bake it repeatedly so that I can do a small area highly detailed, bake it hard and then move on which allows me to maintain the purity of my original marks.

She stood around 12 inches before she fell while on exhibition in the Best of Ringling Show. The gallery placed her on a wobbly table and everytime someone bumped it all the sculptures wood sway. The repeated bumping caused her to snap at the shin and fall onto the table and then to the ground. She was destroyed and I have yet to be compensated.

Ringling I salute you.

P.S. This is the true story that inspired the artwork...[link]

I helped paint this! :painter: Woo hoo.

I love, mourn, and miss her. :tears: Even though she took up how many hours/days of both of our lives.

Stunning. I have used super-sculpey and similar techniques and I know how fragile the material can be. Excellent work!

First, know that your words have power. Over your environment, the people you meet, friends and family, and most especially, over you. Then realize that you have power over your words.

:wow: That's incredible sculptural work!

gahhh-nya.. >< I'm so sorry to hear that it was destroyed! I hope that you will be compensated fairly, and soon.

I can see so much detail to her that it makes my mind liquify ^^ The work on her figure and wrinkles in the clothing are amazing on their own, you put a good portion of you soul into this - wonderful work and structure. You hav more patience than I ^^
