This was the first of three Greek myth figures in Chavant NSP hard. He’s 18” tall and is my version of Achilles. I wanted to show him as aggressive, arrogant, and good looking. The stance says the first, the arrogance is in the fact that he isn’t wearing his full armor, and the good looking is up to you.

Unfortunately I finished him the week after Frank Miller’s 300 came out and everyone I showed it to was like “Nice Leonidas!” Oh well I should just start telling people it is and give up on the Achilles thing.

The pose alone in Achilles by ~Merkaba998 draws the attention, the stance of the Spartan ready to pounce. The level of texture work as well as the finer details (look at the straps on the shin guards for example) have been carefully and precisely sculpted. But the ultimate prize is the dragon that no one has ever seen. They call it the - "Night Fury!" "Get down!" . . .This thing never steals food, never shows itself, and - never misses.

Yes. I intended to revisit the character and update it. This statue's armature was built to hold a lot of weight without budging(3/8" stainless steel rods). Which also made it impossible to cleanly separate out for molds. But I sculpted it in Chavant, a wax material that was never meant to be permanent. Your supposed to take molds from it and recycle the Chavant into your next piece. This was well before I really knew what I was doing from a technical standpoint. But it served me well. The owner of Hard Hero told me it was this statue that made him get in touch with me because he admired the "heroic essence I captured" or something like that.
